



Native Ceremonial Dances
EQUUS presents - The Cottonwood Dancers - Ceremonial Dances from the Tesuque Pueblo at Buffalo Spirit Ranch. For the Pueblo people of Northern New Mexico, Ceremonial dances are a key expression of their tradition and faith. The ‘social’ dances are offered to the public to share their good will and blessings. Local business EQUUS and The Cottonwood Dancers from Tesuque Pueblo have united to bring these special dances to private groups. Their Buffalo and Deer Dances honor the spirit of these sacred animals, the seasons and the land. Take this excellent opportunity to come together in an amazing experience of authentic Native tradition in a beautiful natural environment at a private ranch. Nineteen pueblos line the Rio Grande––from Isleta south of Albuquerque up to Taos Pueblo in the North. For the Pueblo people Ceremonial dances are a key expression of their tradition and faith. The ‘social’ dances are offered to the public to share their good will and blessings.
Guests are invited to interact with the dancers with a Q&A, which is a rare opportunity to learn more about the dances, the regalia and cultural significance to the Pueblo people.
Convener, Thunder Bear Yates, a Buffalo Dancer is a member of two sister Pueblos – Tesuque and Nambe. Yates, who is also a member of ‘the Winter People’ of the Nambe Pueblo gives a brief cultural talk after the dances, including the Q & A.
Cultural Education: Listed member of Tesuque and Nambé Pueblos and convener of The Cottonwood Dancers, Thunder Bear Yates, is available for talks, presentations and Q and A.
Minimum size group – no minimum.
Maximum size group – 200 people
