Many of her sales of her beloved burros go toward supporting Animal Protection of New Mexico.

Native New Mexican, Barbara Meikle, spent her childhood and adolescence absorbed in the delights of painting and drawing. She attended the University of Denver, Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in painting and printmaking. Her education was completed with watercolor and oil painting studies at Cambridge University, England.

Her work revolves around her surroundings, the countryside of the high desert as well as the animals that inhabit it. Barbara's paintings have been exhibited at the International Art Expo in New York City, and several contemporary galleries in the southwest.

Barbara Meikle Fine Art gallery is housed in an early 20th century home on Delgado Street at the corner of the world-famous Canyon Road; recently designated one of the top 10 Streets in America by the American Planning Association's Great Places in America Program.
